Odisha political parties take 1st step towards 2024 election ..
Bhubaneswar: Political parties have started the initial preparations for the forthcoming assembly elections due simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
While chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Thursday chaired an organizational review meeting of his party, BJP general secretary in-charge of Odisha Sunil Bansal is scheduled to take stock of the saffron party's situation with senior state leaders on Saturday.
The Congress has called a meeting of its senior leaders on Sunday to prepare for the party's "Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan", the party's national-level people connect exercise that is scheduled to be rolled out from Republic Day.
The BJD organizational meeting chaired by Naveen mainly discussed lessons learned from the recent Padampur bypoll and the need to constantly evolve and make new strategies to gain people's trust and win elections, BJD leaders, who attended the meeting, said.
The meeting is also a precursor to Naveen's impending visit to Padampur, likely in early January. Though it will be a thanksgiving public meeting by Naveen for voting for the BJD in the December 5 poll, it will also kick off BJD's campaign for the next general elections.
