On the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by team of STF, BBSR at Baripada with the help of Mayurbhanj district police on 29.05.2024 and apprehended one absconding hardcore drug peddler namely Sk Mohatab Alli, 39 years S/o. Sk Mohammad of village Chipat Astia PS. Baripada Town Dist. Mayurbhanj wanted in STF PS case No. 09/2024 dated 22.02.2024 U/s. 21(c)/29 NDPS Act, 1985. He is popularly known as “Kati” among the drug traffickers/ Criminals. He is involved in many other cases.
In this case, on 21.02.2024, contraband brown sugar 302 gram and other incriminating materials were seized from the possession of accused person Khirasindhu Samal S/o. Late Niranjan Samal At- Karanjia NAC, (Ward No. 8, Gudisahi), At/Pr-Tato, Biunria, PS- Karanjia Dist- Mayurbhanj. The apprehended accused was absconded from the date of occurrence. He was the main supplier of brown sugar to the accused person Khirasindhu Samal. The accused has been arrested and is being forwarded to the court of Addl. District Judge cum Spl. Judge, Karanjia Dist. Mayurbhanj. Investigation is on.
In the year 2020 the accused (Kati) was arrested and forwarded in STF PS Case No. 21/2020, where huge quantity of contraband brown sugar 3 kg 265 grams was seized from the possession of accused persons. He remained in jail for 02 years. However, he managed to get bail from the Hon’ble High Court, Odisha during the month of August 2022.
The accused was earlier involved in the following cases too:
- Betnoti PS Case No. 58/2008 U/s. 395 IPC r/w. Sec. 25 Arms Act
- Baripada Town PS Case No.13/2008 U/s. 294/323/341/506/34 IPC
- Mayurbhanbja District Excise Mobile Unit-I, Baripada PR No. 112/2014 and 2(a)CC No.04/2015 Dt.7.2.2015
- STF PS Case No-21 Dated. 19.07.2020 U/S. 21(c)/29 NDPS Act, 1985
Considering his involvement in multiple cases and links with other crime and criminals, a proposal is being submitted to book /detain him under PIT NDPS Act (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988)
